We dreamed up Bean New York in 2005, after we both found ourselves buying lots of baby gifts.   As a mother and daughter, our respective peers were becoming either first-time parents or grandparents, and all at once! 

Both of our careers had been focused on knowing great style (Gail an antiques dealer, Johanna a NYC fashion exec), and we were surprised to find a lack of unique baby clothes on the market.  But from our initial frustration came an idea - create our own boutique and fill it to the brim with uncommonly lovely baby clothing. 

Bean is defined by a simple philosophy:  clothes for babies should be like babies themselves.  That means sweet, charming, soft, pure, adorable, silly, playful, impish, and beautiful!  You'll find so many things that fit these descriptions at Bean New York, in ages newborn to 24 months.

We handpick each item with a respect for both the classic and the unique, so it's easy to find something that compliments each little being.  Shopping should be easy and fun - and with this in mind we stock year-round staples and offer free gift wrapping.  We’ll always have an eye out for the special, the uncommon – to share with you at Bean New York!
